Mr. Tomoaki SHODA, a member of the Society and a Van Gogh researcher, gave a lecture on Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, owned by the National Gallery in London. The painting has been coming to Japan for the first ever external exhibition of the gallery outside U.K.
He explained about Van Gogh’s life in Arles and his relationship with Gauguin, as well as the differences in each of the seven “Sunflowers” paintings in the series and its meanings.
